I have a toyota tacoma 2003 4 cycle. The lock on the rt sidestopped working..so we always use the lft. I locked the keys in the car (in the egnition). I finally found the other set of keys. Now the left door unlocks but will Not open. Is there some kind of mechanism that kicks in when the keys are left in the ignition...we are dumbfounded. Thank you very much. lyndee

There is no such mechanism the rod that pushes down from the outer door handle is probably stuck down. Click on the link for a diagram of the door parts.

What should I do? Does the door have to be taken off or what?
