Can you give me more detail? Symptoms of the problem and what lead up to the rough or low idle.

I had discussed with Larry a problem ihad regarding my 1997 toyota corolla which was idiling at about 200 when the car is switched on ,when the engine is warm the idle speed goes to about 600.He had mentioned it could be the Idle control valve or the throttle needs cleaning, so i was asking for other possible solutions.
